Chapter 114
"Ron has been able to get into his email account, and as far as we know, he had no other appointments except to meet his probation officer. But since Ron was tailing him, he was able to get everything the slime-bag said on the video. Benjamin will easily be released without charges.
"But why didn't anyone tell me? Did Benjamin know?" she asked, feeling hurt by the thought that he kept it from them.
"No, we wanted you and Benjamin to have some family time, without the drama. We never meant to hurt you."
She was only able to nod at her. "Next time... tell me," she said and Reira gave her a nod in return.
Time seemed to slowly tick by, even though the boys both kept Pandora occupied. Her mind couldn't stop worrying about Benjamin.
"Sweetheart," Benjamin called as she heard the front door open. She leaped up and ran down the hallway, leaping into his open arms. She felt his warm breath on her neck a second before his lips were on his skin. "I am so sorry love, he → *
She cut him off by kissing his lips.
"Come on, you two, come get some dinner," Lana said softly from behind them. Benjamin slowly put her back on the ground but kept a hold of her hand as they walked back into the living room.
So?" she asked after only a few moments.
"The District Attorney is still looking it over. Hill thinks that even if it goes to court, they can use extreme circumstances. Benjamin saw the panic that she was trying hard to hide, so he caressed her cheek. “It'll be all right, love. I'm not going to apologize fo hitting him. I am only sorry that I caused you to be upset and worry His hand cupped her chin and he smiled at her. "Have se faith."
She snorted as she looked at him. "You still have faith?"
"Yes, I've got you and the boys, don't I?" he asked.
She couldn't help but lean into his hand. "Yeah, and we've got you."
He leaned closer and kissed her softly.
"Here you are," Lana said as she handed Pandora a plate of food. She smiled as she turned her head to Benjamin, handing him his plate.noveldrama
Benjamin told them what happened at the police station, and then went on to tell everyone what Hill said. Once he was done, everyone moved on and talked about other things. Pandora knew they were trying hard to distract both Benjamin and her.
"You really think everything will be okay?" she asked Benjamin softly as they lay facing each other in bed.
"It will be, love," he said, kissing her softly.
"I'm sorry," she apologized, making him frown. “This is my fault-1 should have been stronger, done more to get him out of my life, long ago. I should have allowed Ron to deal with him like he wanted to. You shouldn't be facing all of this, having your reputation tarnished because of him."
Benjamin smiled at her, shaking his head. "You did do everything to get away from him. You were trying to do it the right way, by the way of the law. As for my reputation, it will be fine, the people that matter know what I did and why I did it. If anyone else wants to know why, they can ask me, and I will tell them to their face. I'll tell them the truth. I did it for the woman I love, so no
one makes her cry, no one talks badly about our children."
The next few days went by slowly, but thankfully, Benjamin was still allowed to work, and the clinic was supporting him. Even the hospital was behind him for support though he was no longer on staff there.
The District Attorney got back to them that morning, saying that they weren't taking what Benjamin did any further, but Derrik could still sue him in small claims or civil court hearings.
Hill believed that whether Derrik did take it further or not, would depend on his court trial which started that very day.
"Mrs. Parks, the court is ready for you," the Bailiff said.
She let out a soft breath as she stood up.,
"Remember, we are with you, right here," Benjamin reminded, tapping her chest before kissing her.
She walked to the Bailiff, who led her into court. When she got to the stand, she was asked to raise her right hand and swear to tell the truth. She first took them through her relationship before marriage, her marriage, and the divorce, before going through what she had been put through for the last year.
She had only reached the point when her car broke down the first time when she began to cry as it hit her just how many times Derrik had put her boys' lives in danger. By the end of her testimony, she was sobbing hard.
When she was led from the courtroom, she leaped right into Benjamin's arms. He only let her go when he was summoned to the stand next. Since she had already testified, she was allowed to reenter the courtroom. She sat on the bench behind the Di Attorney.
"She's a hussy. I can't believe that she lied outright in court and is allowed back in here," Miriam yelled in a huff, making the District Attorney stop speaking as he turned to look at her.
"Ma'am, this is a court of law. If you wish to talk, take it someplace else," the judge quickly reprimanded her.
Pandora's eyes flashed to hers and she found Miriam glaring in her direction. She quickly looked away, only for her sight to land on Derrik, who was glaring at her like he wished her dead.
"Stop looking at him," Ron hissed in her ear. "Pretend he's not here, he continued with a whisper as he linked his hand with hers.
Near the end of the case, she got the shock of her life when a woman entered. She was a similar height to Pandora but was more rounded.
