Chapter 1576
The outdoor activities were meant to last a week, but they wrapped up in just four days, leaving everything feeling rushed. After they finished, Patricia, who had been sharing a room with Fiona, seemed to disappear off the face of the earth. Fiona hadn't seen her or heard anything about her at school. Gossip buzzed around about Patricia's sudden absence-some folks whispered she'd been expelled, while others thought she left on her own. The real story remained a mystery.
With three days left to spare, Fiona easily got time off from school, thanks to her connection with Jackson, which made the process a breeze. She used her phone's GPS to track down Tyler's place. This trip was all about finding him.
About half an hour later, her car rolled into a quaint little town with a charm that felt like it belonged in a different era, reminiscent of the early 19th century. As she got closer, Fiona took in the scenery, making sure to remember every detail around her.
After a short ten-minute walk, she found herself in a narrow alley lined with high stone walls. The place gave off a slightly eerie vibe, not exactly welcoming to strangers.
She figured Tyler's family home was just up ahead. Without second thoughts, Fiona headed to the end of the alley and stopped at a weathered old gate. Her phone confirmed this was the spot.
Tyler was supposed to be inside.
Fiona knocked on the door, but there was no response. She frowned, straining to catch any sound, but all she heard were faint murmurs.
"Tyler," she called out, knocking again.
She gave the door a push, and the latch gave way with a dull thud.
Despite the rundown look from the outside, the inside of the house was surprisingly spacious. On either side of the entrance, rows of vegetables and flowers were growing, leading into a long corridor that took Fiona to the main hall. The place had an odd, uncanny feel to it.
Fiona wasn't bothered; she'd seen plenty of houses like this on TV shows.
"Who are you?"
A sharp voice cut through the air. Fiona turned to find a young woman glaring at her. The woman looked a couple of years older, dressed in a mature style.
"I asked you a question. Didn't you hear me?" The woman's gaze swept over
Fiona with disdain, her eyes hard and cold. "What are you doing trespassing in my home?"
"I'm looking for Tyler."
The woman's face went pale, her eyes widened as if Fiona was some kind of threat.
"There's no Tyler here," she snapped.
She tried to push Fiona out, but Fiona smoothly stepped aside, causing the woman to stumble.
"You need to leave. No one here goes by that name, and you're not welcome," the woman insisted, her voice brimming with hostility.noveldrama
Fiona said nothing, just watched her closely. She didn't buy a word of it. The woman's reaction to Tyler's name was too revealing.
"If you don't leave, I'll have you thrown out, and it won't be so nice," the woman warned, her tone dripping with a threat.
What do you think?
