Chapter 1579
Seeing the scene unfold, the young woman dashed back to the old man's side, tears streaming down her face as she kept badmouthing Fiona. But the old man didn't bat an eye.
Fiona, on the other hand, wasn't too worried about the old man's tricks. She knew these folks were no match for her. Still, she had to keep her wits about her when it came to him.
The dining room of the Reynolds family was decked out in luxury. Once the old man settled in his chair, a few of the main male family members took their seats beside him. Fiona found an empty chair directly across from him at the large round table, which was big enough to seat twelve or thirteen people.
"What makes you think you belong here? Go eat in the corner!" the young woman snapped, trying to drag Fiona away. But to her surprise, Fiona didn't budge an inch.
Feeling confident with so many people around, she wasn't worried about Fiona causing her any harm.
"Have you lost your mind?" Fiona shot her a sharp look.
As she turned, she noticed Tyler sitting next to her, grinning.
"So, you did come to find me."
Fiona sighed, "......"
There was something in Tyler's smile—a hint of affection—that even Fiona found a bit off.
"Tyler, how can you look at her like that?" The young woman tried to squeeze between Tyler and Fiona, but a stern voice cut her off.
"Haven't you stirred up enough trouble?" the old man's deep voice reverberated.
The room fell silent, the kind of quiet where you could hear a pin drop. Everyone's eyes were glued to Fiona and Tyler, as the old man signaled for the food to be served.
"Old man, just get to the point. This dinner feels like a trap, and whether I eat or not doesn't matter. You Reynolds act like it's still the old days, with servants at your every whim. I get no say in that. But abandoning Tyler only to drag him back and force him to marry a stranger at his age-is that right?"
Tyler looked at Fiona, his eyes wide with surprise. She knew everything.
He had been wondering how to explain it all, but Fiona seemed to need no explanation.
"What's your relationship with Tyler?" the old man asked.
"We're just classmates,” Fiona said, her voice steady and calm.
"Classmates, and you came here looking for him? Who are you fooling?" The young woman couldn't hide her irritation.
"None of your business."
Fiona's expression was calm, as if she couldn't be bothered to put on a show, except for the old man's presence.noveldrama
"What did you say?" The young woman was stunned by Fiona's defiance. "This is the Reynolds family!"
"So what if it is? Are the Reynolds at the top of the world or the big shots in the food chain?" Tyler chuckled, his voice growing colder. "Grandfather hasn't even spoken yet."
"Alright, enough!" The old man, clearly annoyed by the spectacle, glanced at Fiona. "You can take Tyler with you tomorrow."
Fiona frowned, confused. "I want to take him now."
"Tyler is a Reynolds, after all. Whether he stays or goes is up to us. Letting you take him is already a courtesy. Young lady, don't get too cocky, or you might end up hurting yourself."
What do you think?
