Chapter 1583
For a moment, she was at a loss for words. It was hard to believe that such things were happening in our high-tech world today. Was there anything left that seemed impossible?
She eased back onto the swing, letting it sway gently as her legs dangled. "The Reynolds family really is full of surprises," she mused.
Words escaped her, and she wasn't sure how to put her thoughts into words.
Then, something clicked.
"So, did you all...?" she trailed off, unsure.
"Jules cut his hand so we could get away from the Reynolds family," Yvenne explained, her voice quivering like a frightened deer. "Fiona, I'm sorry. I didn't want to be at odds with you at the Reynolds family, but if I hadn't gone along with it, they might've killed me."
As she spoke, she rolled up her sleeve, revealing fresh whip marks, evidence of a recent ordeal.
"I had to do what they wanted, Fiona. Please don't be mad at me."
Fiona glanced at Tyler, her expression unyielding despite Yvenne's pleading tone. With a light chuckle, she said, "This isn't enough to make me mad."
"If you could leave that way, why didn't you head back to school sooner?" Fiona asked.
"We had to wait for the full moon at midnight."
Fiona rolled her eyes. The Reynolds family was certainly peculiar, needing such precise timing for their plans.
"We've broken free from the Reynolds family now, and even Yvenne has cut ties with them. She doesn't have anywhere else to go, so she'll be staying with me and going to Westbrook High School. After all, she's still quite young."
This caught Fiona off guard. Yvenne had been with the Reynolds family for over a decade, and it was hard to believe she'd sever ties over this incident.
The Reynolds family had shaped her thoughts for so many years, it seemed unlikely Yvenne could change so quickly.
Nevertheless, Fiona chose not to call her out on it. She was curious to see what Yvenne was up to.
"Alright, as long as she can cover thenoveldrama
tuition. Whether she gets into Westbrook High School isn't my concern, Fiona shrugged. Just then, her phone rang. She glanced a Tyler and venne. "I've got something to take care of, you two keep talking." Cóntent belongs to
Turning away, she answered the call, her voice turning sweet and playful. "Hey, big brother~"
She hadn't been in touch with
Jackson for a few days because of
the Reynolds family drama, and missed hearing him call her Fiona.
"There's a dinner tomorrow night, prepared by the chef at the Golden Orchid. Want to come?" Jackson asked.
Fiona could never say no to good food, so she happily agreed and playfully added, "Will you come pick me up, big brother?"
"Of course," came the affectionate reply from the phone.
Jackson didn't even notice how his lips curled into a smile, his eyes bright with amusement.
He seemed to revel in every time Fiona called him "big brother," finding it utterly charming.
"Alright, it's a date. I'll be waiting for you to pick me up tomorrow."
After hanging up, Nash walked over, looking a bit flustered.
"There's a dinner tomorrow. Are you coming? Jackson said he texted you, but you
didn't reply," Nash said, looking mildly frustrated.
What do you think?
