Flora’s Guide to a Second Chance at Love and Life

Chapter 1691

As soon as Fiona wrapped up her final exam, she finally breathed a sigh of relief. She shot a glance at Tyler and asked, "Less than a month until New Year's got any plans?"

Tyler didn't answer right away. He just glanced down at his backpack and gave a sheepish smile. "The usual."

By "the usual," he meant spending New Year's alone in his little rented apartment, whipping up a couple of basic dishes, maybe sipping on a drink or two, and letting the day quietly pass by.

Before Fiona entered his life, he hadn't even had an apartment to call his own. Back then, he was at the orphanage, decorating with a bunch of kids and the director. Those days were tough but heartwarming. Now, he was by himself, and while it was a bit lonely, loneliness was just part of life.

"What about you? Are you heading home?" Tyler asked.

Fiona almost burst out laughing. Her parents were so elusive that even she, their own daughter, had no clue where they were most of the time. They were like ghosts.

"I'm solo too. How about we take a trip to Florida together?"

Kimberly had invited her to join for the holidays when she asked for some design drafts, but Fiona had already turned her down.

The Woods family's New Year shindig meant going to the main branch, with the whole Capital Woods family in attendance. Fiona had no interest in getting tangled up with them. If she could avoid it, she'd steer clear of them forever. Saving Mrs. Woods had been a one-off.

"Yeah, let's go together," Tyler agreed.

But he didn't have much cash, so he figured he'd need to hustle a bit in the coming weeks.noveldrama

Fiona noticed his hesitation but didn't push it. Instead, she smiled and said, "I heard Golden Times is hiring. The pay starts at ten grand. Maybe you should check it out?"

Tyler perked up at this and nodded. After saying goodbye to Fiona, he hopped on a bus.

Tyler was the responsible type, so

he rarely accepted handouts, even from Fiona. Taking charity made him feet small, so Fiona never offered him money directly.

After Tyler left, Fiona phoned the owner of Golden Times, and Tyler nailed the interview.

Meanwhile, Fiona was heading back to her dorm to grab a few things before visiting Jasmine when she got a text from Nash.

"Fiona, something's up with Jackson."

Her face went pale in an instant. She was packing clothes when everything slipped from her hands and hit the floor.

She tried calling Nash right away, but there was no answer.

If she didn't trust that this was Nash's private number, she might have thought it was a scam.

Not wasting any time, Fiona grabbed her jacket and dashed out. She made a quick call, and soon a luxury off-road bike was waiting for her at the campus gate. She jumped on, revved it up, and sped off.

In just a few minutes, she pulled up to the Woods family estate.

There, she spotted Nash walking out, his eyes rimmed with red. His usual swagger was gone, replaced by a look of deep sadness and helplessness.

"Nash, what's going on?" Fiona asked as she got off the bike and hurried over, her

face tight with worry. "What did your message mean?"
