Chapter 98
Sylvia stared at the words for a while, her expression a bit dazed. After a moment, she seemed to snap back to reality and smiled at me. She took my hand and said, "Hudson, it's so hot outside. Let's go inside."
I wasn't sure what Sylvia was thinking, but I hoped it wasn't what I feared.
Just as we were about to step in, a sharp voice came from behind us.
"Sylvia, you liar! Why did you go back on your promise? We had an agreement! Why are you doing this?"
I turned around to see Selena standing behind us, and my mind went blank.
I hadn't expected Sylvia and Selena to meet so quickly.
The truth couldn't stay hidden forever, but surely there was no need to expose it this quickly. She didn't even give me a chance to prepare. Selena looked at Sylvia with a look of utter disdain.noveldrama
"Hud, is this your new girlfriend?" Selena looked at me, shaking her head with a disapproving click of her tongue as if criticizing my poor taste for choosing someone like Sylvia.
I didn't respond to Selena, but I knew that she already had her own conclusions. Without missing a beat, Selena continued, "I thought she'd be more beautiful, but she's really just... average-looking."
"So Selena, you already knew I had a girlfriend, right?" I closed my eyes and asked in a pained voice.
Selena's calm and natural attitude made me wonder if she had known all along that I was already seeing someone.
As expected, Selena did know.
She looked into my eyes, glanced at Sylvia, and shrugged nonchalantly.
"Yeah, I've known for a while. You and Zion thought you could hide it from me, but when you came to Adenville, I already knew you had a girlfriend."
"I know more than just that," she added.
Selena took a deep breath, and I followed her gaze to see that she had been staring at Sylvia. Her eyes were filled with a complex mix of emotions-threat, disdain, and anger all blended together.
"We should talk somewhere else," Selena said coldly. "Sylvia, this is for your own sake. There are some things you wouldn't want more people to know, right?"
I didn't understand what Selena meant by that, but I could see that Sylvia's face had turned pale. She seemed a bit dazed.
When we entered, the receptionist looked a bit surprised to see the two of us together but quickly regained her composure and handed over Selena's ID to book us a room.
After swiping the card, we entered the room. Selena sat on the bed and pointed to the large bed opposite, gesturing for us to sit down.
She looked at Sylvia coldly and said, "Sylvia, have you forgotten what you promised me? Why are you going back on your word? Do you know how much I despise people who don't keep their promises?
Though Selena spoke in the same tone, I could tell she was angry. She had used
the same tone in the meeting room before.
Keeping her promises? I didn't understand what kind of deal these two had made behind my back.
Sylvia, sitting beside me, tightened her grip on my arm, and I could feel her trembling.
She took a deep breath and tried to act calm, but I could tell she was extremely anxious.
"I also want to keep my promises, but over time, I realized none of this is worth it. It's a bad deal."
She continued, "Selena, you've
deceived me, and now I'm not
allowed to resist? I've endured it for
almost a month, and I can't take it
anymore. Why should I pretend I don't know what's going on?"
What do you think?
