Chapter 4557
Zachary protested, "Wife, don't pin that on me. I'm not the evil one here. If they're scheming, that's on them. I'm not carrying the blame-it's too much."
"So, how'd the proposal go? Was it a success?" he asked, growing curious. Serenity smiled. "Of course not. But River set a trap for Romina. I don't know exactly what he's planning, but she's not getting away. He's got her right where he wants her. They've been sparring for years—they know each other inside and out. Honestly, I think River has gone easy on her. If he were serious, Romina wouldn't stand a chance."
Zachary laughed. "River's devious-but what do you expect? Look who trained us. Since he's locked her in, you should come home early. I miss you so much." "We agreed to stay for ten days," Serenity reminded him. "It's still early." "Babe, if you count the day you left, we're already halfway through," Zachary said. "It's not early at all."
"I just want to enjoy the drama a little longer. River and Romina's story is so much more fun to watch than Alex's. His wasn't exciting enough."
Zachary's face fell. "Seren, you're a married woman, and I'm your husband." "Okay, okay," she said with a laugh. "We'll stay just for the full ten days-no extensions. The kids are having fun too."
"You guys may be having fun, but the rest of us back here? Chaos. Everyone came back to the villa thinking we'd all get together, only to find out the eldest brother and his wife had gone on vacation. Now all the kids are throwing tantrums, wanting to come to Uncle River's house.
They've worn Grandma out."
Serenity chuckled. "Alright, alright. We'll come back in ten days."
"Did Tatum and the others bring the kids back?" she asked.
"They brought them back, then returned to work. The kids are staying at the villa." The old lady loved having the house full. Usually, the children stayed with their parents, but over long holidays, they were sent to Youyou Villa to cheer her up.
The kids loved it there—more space, more friends, plenty of places to play. "The two little ones will be thrilled when they get back," Serenity said. "Kids just want to play."
She turned and called, "Baby, come here. Daddy's on the phone!"noveldrama
The moment Maverick and Bethany heard their mom, they dropped their toys and rushed over.
Serenity smiled and said into the phone, "Here's your son. You two have a good chat." "Hold on-let me hang up and call back on video. I miss my daughter," Zachary said before quickly ending the call and switching to a video chat. "Daddy!"
"Daddy!"
The two kids beamed when they saw their father's face on the screen.
Maverick sat down on the sofa, hugged his sister, and propped the phone in front
of them so their dad could see both of them clearly.
"Baby, do you miss Daddy?" Zachary asked.
"Dad," Maverick replied sweetly.
Bethany didn't say much. She just kept calling him "Dad" in her soft little voice and stretched out her chubby arms like she wanted a hug.
"Sis, Daddy's on a video call-he can't really hug us right now," Maverick
explained to her gently, then turned back to his dad. "I missed you today. Are you busy, Dad? Are we bothering you?"
Zachary smiled. "Today's Sunday. Daddy's not working, not busy at all."
"Oh, good." Maverick let out a breath and launched into stories about all the fun they'd had lately.
What do you think?
