Chapter 293
Ever since Jean returned home, Nadine felt like Brad had become a completely different person. He seemed distant and unfamiliar. She had never seen him go out of his way for any woman, not even for Gigi or Evelyn. Jean was the only exception.
Despite his clear affection for Jean, Brad was reluctant to divorce Nadine and give Jean a proper status. Nadine couldn't understand why. If it was for Adam's sake, it made sense. But as long as they kept it secret, no one would find out. Everyone minded their own business behind closed doors.
It wasn't that he couldn't let go of Nadine. Even when they were being intimate, a call from Jean had him rushing to her side like an eager puppy.
Therefore, Nadine concluded that Brad must be crazy. Brad didn't take the business card from her hand. His dark eyes pierced her pale face like knives.
"I'm fine. It's you who's been acting crazy lately. You should get checked out if you're sick," he snapped.
Nadine chuckled, tossed the card onto the bed, and ignored him. Then, she grabbed her pajamas and headed to the bathroom.
It had started to rain outside, and the weather was too cold. Sean seemed to be catching a cold, so it was best not to let him stay in the chilly night air. Nadine decided to stay at Phoenix Villa that night. She could sleep in the guest room and leave the master bedroom to Brad.
As she entered the bathroom, Brad quickly followed. He crossed his arms and emphasized, "I'm injured! I got hurt for you and Sean!"
The bathroom had two showers. Nadine grabbed a towel, slipped into one of the showers, and quickly locked the door behind her.
"I'll shower first, then I'll give you a back rub. Just wait," Nadine said.
Nadine had no idea how long he would have to wait. She leisurely enjoyed her bath, savoring the
relaxation of the jacuzzi with homet
eyes closed. If Brad wanted to wait, that was his choice. The door was locked, and she wasn't in the mood to deal with him right now.
From Brad's attitude, the divorce seemed to be halfway done. Once Adam's heart
transplant was successful, she would be single again.
She planned to move in with Avery,
where they would support each other-she would be the mother, and Avery would be the father. Although she didn't know who Sean's
biological father was, she was
confident she could take good care
of him.
She had never looked for Sean's biological father, nor did she plan to. If she could bring a child into the world alone, she could certainly raise him alone.
As she enjoyed the bath, she heard a knock on the door.
"Mommy, are you in there?" Sean's voice came through.
Nadine had taught Sean to be very polite. Even if the door was open, he would always knock before entering.
Startled, Nadine opened her eyes and quickly replied, "Yes, I'm here!"
"You're back?" she called out as she quickly dressed. She wondered where Brad had gone and why there was no sign of him.
Nadine wrapped herself tightly in a robe, leaving only her head and feet exposed. When she saw Sean, her face lit up with a smile. She reachednoveldrama
out and pinched his soft, weached
cheek. "What are you doing here? Weren't you out playing?"
Phoenix Villa had three fairytale-esque buildings. The one they were in had five
floors. The first to the third floors were occupied, the fourth was reserved for guests, and the fifth was a flower room.
What do you think?
