Chapter 837
Nadine realized with growing horror that she hadn't brought any money. Worse yet, she didn't even have her phone with her. Her pockets were completely empty.
The vendor looked at her expectantly, waiting for her to pay. After watching her pat herself down and search every inch of her jacket without pulling out a single thing, the smile on his face froze. "You want it for free? It's just cotton candy. You can't even afford that?"noveldrama
His eyes traveled over her well-fitted clothes, and he figured she couldn't possibly be from a poor family. There was no way she didn't have ten dollars.
Noticing the vendor's scowl, Nadine hurriedly apologized, "I'm so sorry, I forgot my phone! Could you lend me yours for just a minute to make a call?" With no cash and no other option, she had to ask the vendor for help.
The vendor shot her a condescending look. "You don't have any money? Then, why are you even out and about? What century are you living in? Who leaves their house without their phone? Let me guess, you're one of those scammers trying to trick me into handing over my phone!"
With so many scammers around these days, the vendor's guard was up. The longer he stared at Nadine, the more convinced he became that she was a scammer. Plus, his mother had told him that beautiful women were dangerous.
Nadine was baffled and a little amused at being accused of being a scammer. But she had no choice but to push through and say, "I promise, I'm not a scammer. How about you hold onto your phone, make the call for me, and put it on speakerphone? I'll call someone who can bring the money over."
The sincerity in her eyes convinced the vendor that she wasn't a scammer. He agreed to her request and pulled out his phone, putting it on speaker.

Meanwhile, Sebastian was cruising through the streets in his
ostentatious yellow Lamborghini, searching every corner for Nadine. Brad's black SUV was right behind him, refusing to let up. No matter how fast Sebastian drove, Brad's car clung to him like a shadow.
Just then, Sebastian's phone rang. It was an unknown number. He frowned, assuming it was a business partner, but decided to answer anyway. "Hello? Who is this?"
The sound of wind and bustling street noise filled the line. After a while, a familiar voice came through. "Sebastian, hi. It's me-Nadine."
Sebastian was overjoyed to hear Nadine's voice. "Nad? Where are you? Send me your location. I'll come get you right away!"
Nadine chuckled sheepishly before explaining her predicament. "I don't want to do this, but I'm in a bit of a pickle. I'm sorry." It was just ten dollars, yet she had to ask Sebastian to bring it to her. It was extremely embarrassing.
He chuckled. "The fact that you're asking me for help shows you consider me a friend. It means I'm someone you can count on, right? There's no need to be embarrassed. I'm glad you came to me.
"Alright, I know where you are now. Give me a few minutes. I'll be right there." After hanging up, Sebastian couldn't stop the grin spreading acros his face. He immediately told his driver, "Take me to this place! The faster, the better. Nad needs me!" '
Ten minutes later, Sebastian's car pulled over to the side of the road. He got out while holding a 100-dollar bill, making his way to the vendor where Nadine was. "Sorry for the inconvenience. I hope we haven't caused you too much trouble."
