Reborn From Oblivion

Chapter 918

Jules was stunned by Mrs. Vincent's generous gratitude towards Greta for saving her life. The lavish reward could significantly boost Greta's social standing. While saving a life certainly warrants a grand gesture of thanks, Morris's comment, "Greta and the lady's meeting wasn't just happenstance," made Jules skeptical about Greta's intentions in getting close to Mrs. Vincent.

"Hey, Head Butler, could you let the lady know we should hold off on the ceremony to adopt Greta as her goddaughter? I need to sort out a few things first."

The head butler chuckled, "Is Mr. Jules questioning Ms. Nellie's reasons for cozying up to the lady?"noveldrama

Jules nodded, "Yeah, I am."

The head butler went on, "Since Ms. Nellie started staying with the Sharp family, she's been nothing but devoted to the lady-keeping her company, serving tea, and all that. She even politely turns down most of the lady's gifts, staying pretty humble. The lady's really taken a liking to her."

Jules replied, "There are rumors that Jackson isn't mom's biological kid. I didn't buy it at first, but now I'm starting to think there might be something to it."

"So, when he suggested that Greta's meeting with my mom was all planned out, I couldn't just brush it off."

The head butler raised an eyebrow in surprise, "Who is this guy, some kind of mind reader?"

Jules chuckled, “Just a young guy. We haven't verified his story yet, so I'm not taking it too seriously."

The head butler nodded, "Got it."

After the head butler left, Jules sat in thought for a long time. Then, suddenly, he got up and headed out the door quickly.

At the Stewart Estate.

Jules arrived at the Stewart Estate right around midday. Morris and Lincoln were deeply engrossed in a game of chess.

Morris glanced up, saw Jules, and Jules gave a quick shush gesture before sneaking up behind Lincoln.

Lincoln was intensely focused, clutching a bishop, unsure of his next move.

Jules suddenly burst out laughing, "Ha! Lincoln, what's going on? You used to be a chess whiz. Are you so stuck you're about to squash a fly with that frown?"

"Your skills have really slipped. Have all these lazy years made you slow?"

Hearing Jules's voice, Lincoln looked up, beaming, "Hey, Jules, you made it!"

After greeting each other, Lincoln shot back, "Don't just laugh at me. I'll have you know, it's not that I've lost

my touch or gotten slower, but that my opponent here is ridiculously good."

Lincoln tossed his chess piece the board and got up, "Come on, Jules, take a turn against Nathan.

when you're losing."

Let's see if you're still laugh the nea

Jules rolled his eyes, "Alright, I'll play. Even if fose, I won't lose as badly as you did. Look at your board-al your pieces are gone. Talk about

embarrassing."

Jules sat across from Morris and started setting up the chessboard.

Morris calmly reset the pieces, radiating a serene vibe, like he was above the hustle and bustle of the world.

Once everything was ready, Morris invited, "Go ahead, your move."

Jules jumped right in, confidently placing his first piece.

Morris, chatting as he played, asked, "Any news yet?"

Jules, playing along, replied, "You nailed one thing."

Morris corrected him, "It's not that I got just one thing right; rather, you've only managed to dig up one piece of the puzzle in this short time."

Jules, a bit sheepish, admitted, "You're right. I'll keep looking into the other two things."
