"Dad, do you know? I was the one who poisoned myself. I wanted to frame Celine!" Carly admitted it herself.

"But do you know why I did it? Because I was jealous. I was jealous that Adam had given his love to Celine, and I was even more jealous that you had started liking her too!

"I was born with a heart condition. I've been incomplete since the day I was born.

It took me so long to finally find you, my real father. But you don't love me enough. So I had to use whatever means necessary to win your affection!"

Tears streamed down Carly's face, her cries filled with anguish.

Nigel looked at her, his emotions tangled. "Carly, you didn't have to do that. This is my fault-l neglected your feelings..."

"Dad, we were separated for so many years. I thought that once we reunited, you would love me completely, give me all your love, and spoil me unconditionally.

"But I was wrong. I was stupid to think that. My mom is gone, and now, I'm going to find her. I'm going to tell her that you never truly loved me."

At the mention of her mother, Nigel felt a sharp pain in his chest. His usually stern and unshakable gaze softened with guilt.

He stepped forward. "Carly, I'm sorry. This is all my fault. Give me another chance. I'll take you back to the Capitol. Whatever you want, I'll give it to you." Carly choked back her sobs. "Really, Dad? If you lie to me, I'll jump!"

She wobbled dangerously on the edge of the bridge, her body swaying over the vast ocean below.

Nigel's heart clenched. "Carly, I would never lie to you. From now on, I'll keep my distance from Celine. I won't do anything you don't like. Now, please come down from there."

Slowly, she climbed down from the railing.

Nigel rushed forward and pulled her into his arms. "Carly, don't ever do something like this again. You scared me."

Carly hugged him back. "Dad, as long as you love me, I won't do anything reckless."

"Okay, Carly. I'll take you back to the Capitol. I'll hold a grand celebration to announce your return as my rightful daughter."
