Chapter 1647
The pharmacy near the hotel was open 24/7, just a quick five-minute stroll away. Mirabella picked up the medicine and was heading back when, right at the hotel entrance, she bumped into her three friends who had just returned from a night out dancing.
The three friends, feeling inexplicably guilty, exchanged nervous glances. "Uh, Mira, what are you doing down here? It's late, shouldn't you be getting some rest?" Blaze asked, his cheeks still a bit red from the beer he'd enjoyed earlier. He tried to hide his face with his hand, feeling like his usual cool image was slipping.
It wasn't just Blaze who looked uneasy; Patrick and Denny, leaning on each other for support, appeared just as awkward.
Mirabella, unfazed, simply held up the plastic bag she was carrying. "Just went to grab some medicine."
"Medicine? Are you feeling okay?" Blaze's concern shifted instantly to her well- being.
"Not really," Mirabella replied, choosing not to elaborate.
Blaze seemed to catch on to something and let out a dramatic sigh. "Tonight's just not kind to us single folks, is it?"
He gets it!
Mirabella was puzzled. "???"
Blaze hiccuped and pointed towards the hotel, "Alright, Mira, you should head back upstairs."
Mirabella brushed off Blaze's odd behavior and asked, "Looks like you guys had quite the party. Need me to fetch some hangover cures?"
The three of them, all eager to maintain their cool facade, shook their heads and waved her off in unison.
Blaze insisted, "We're good, honestly. We didn't drink that much, just a little buzzed."
Patrick chimed in, "Yeah, we're just the kind who feel it quickly."
Denny remained silent, feeling his friends had said it all.
Mirabella glanced at the trio, all leaning on each other and flushed red. "..."
If they could stand straight and talk, she might have taken them seriously.
Before long, they were all in the elevator heading upstairs.
Back in her room, Mirabella noticed James was missing from the living room, but she could hear the gentle sound of water from the bedroom.
A few minutes later, James appeared, wrapped in a loose bathrobe. His muscular chest peeked through, and water droplets trailed down his hair, giving him an irresistibly rugged look.
Mirabella eyed him, "Are you a kid? You know you shouldn't get the wound wet, right?"
James, despite the scolding, was in high spirits. He sat down beside Mirabella. "Isn't that why you're here?"
"Ha," Mirabella retorted, briefly
closing her eyes. She reached out to adjust his bathrobe, which had fallen
open, covering his legs more ve
appropriately. "Quit being such a flirt."
It was late, and he didn't seem to care about being decent.
James arched an eyebrow, a playful smirk on his lips. "Aren't you the doctor? Why so shy all of a sudden?"noveldrama
She was going to have to remove his bathrobe to apply the medicine.
"Even doctors have their boundaries, you know," Mirabella replied, keeping her cool.
James chuckled, not wanting to call
I.ne
out her professional façade. He leaned in, whispering, "So, Dr. Huo, should we do this here or head back
to the bedroom?"
Mirabella: "..."
There are a hundred ways to handle a cheeky boyfriend!
James cleared his throat, recognizing when to ease off. He adjusted his bathrobe
to cover everything below his waist, then extended his injured arm to her.
What do you think?
