The Queen Returns—And She's Unforgiving

Lucas' gaze was indifferent, and his tone unchanged. Yet, there was an undertone that made Evelyn uncomfortable.

Her cheeks heated instantly.

It wasn't because of anything unseemly. Rather, it was because, in the past, she had forced herself to call him "honey". Back then, she had only wanted Lucas to grow accustomed to and value her as his wife.

Despite her shyness, every sentence she spoke had started with that term of endearment. Even during their most intimate moments, she had addressed him tenderly.

And yet, Lucas had hardly ever responded to her.

Now that he had openly pointed it out, she felt embarrassed.

Seeing the subtle change in Evelyn's expression, Lucas wasn't surprised. She was still the same Evelyn he had known.

No matter how calm she appeared on the surface, she would always reveal her vulnerability in the end.

He laughed lightly and turned away, putting an end to their conversation.

Evelyn, however, felt uneasy about his attitude.

Just as she was about to retort-reminding him that they would soon be divorced -the elevator doors slid open.

Lucas stepped out of the elevator without so much as a backward glance.

Evelyn never even got the chance to speak.

Once in the car, Justine was still fuming. "If this deal hadn't been finalized last month, I would have torn that woman's fake dignity apart! Acting like a bitch and feeling so proud of it! How disgusting!"

Lucas owned many companies spanning various industries. His manufacturing company was top-tier. Flying Seal Group had previously collaborated with TechNova Group several times before on combat drone manufacturing projects. Both sides had been mutually satisfied with the outcome.

But things were different now.

TechNova Group had become a stepping stone for Tiffany.

Evelyn massaged her temples and calmly reassured Justine. "I'm fine. We'll inevitably cross paths in business again. After all, Flying Seal Group isn't as powerful as Bluezen. It wouldn't be wise to make enemies."

If Tiffany were truly humiliated, Lucas might not hesitate to make trouble for Flying Seal Goup. After all, he was fiercely protective of Tiffany.

And with Evelyn's uncertain health, she didn't want Flying Seal Group to suffer because of her.

Justine was both angry and heartbroken. "They're all fools! Just wait until your identity confidentiality agreement expires. Let's see if that little bitch can still smile then! Does she really think she's so great? And Lucas? He's the definition of pure blindness!"

As she spoke, she handed her phone to Evelyn. "Look, I posted your picture on Instagram, and the comments section exploded! Everyone's asking if you're single and they're practically begging me for your contact info.

"Take a look and see if there's anyone you like. Let's have you thriving in both

your career and love life! Have Lucas regret everything!"

Evelyn's beauty was undeniable, but she was often unnoticed because of her cold and subtle presence.

Yet once people noticed her, few could resist her charm.

Evelyn's lips curled slightly. "He wouldn't care. And I don't have the energy for

that. Finalizing the project this morning is my real priority."

With her illness, even a full recovery was uncertain. She just wanted to focus on doing meaningful things.

That afternoon, Evelyn baked some cookies at home and took them to the sanatorium.

Leonard's fees were due again.

The man himself was in good spirits. When he saw Evelyn, he smiled warmly. "It's so cold. Why did you come all the way here?"

Evelyn stepped forward and held his hand. "I've missed you. I was worried you'd be lonely here by yourself."

"You underestimate me! I'm actually quite popular here. Many parents bring their hospitalized kids to me for tutoring. I'm busy all the time, so you don't have to worry about me."

Evelyn couldn't help but smile. "Of course. The great Professor Reed is the best. It seems like you don't need me at all."

Leonard peeled an orange and stuffed a segment in Evelyn's hand. "Taking carenoveldrama

of yourself is more important than anything else. Lucas hasn't been here with you in a while, has he?"

Evelyn's smile faded slightly.

It was true, especially after Tiffany came into the picture.

Lucas' attention was completely on Tiffany. He had no time to care about her or her family.

Leonard sensed something was wrong. In the past, when Evelyn came to visit, she would tell him about Lucas and the Grants with an air of optimism. She had looked forward to living a good life. But this time, such was not the case.

Sensing something amiss, Leonard casually changed the subject. "You brought so many cookies today! Just leave two boxes here. Take the rest home. Didn't Sophia love these?"

Evelyn didn't respond.

After staying with Leonard for over an hour, she took two boxes of cookies and walked through the sanatorium's garden toward the exit.

She was a little lost in thought.

When she came to her senses, she suddenly found herself face-to-face with a hovering drone. Its propellers buzzed lightly as it swayed left and right, charging straight at her.
