Chapter 837
Chapter 837:
However, Hadley remained unmoved.
Elvin had said the same thing in the past. Hadley had turned him down then. She wasn’t about to say yes to the same offer now.
“I’m sorry. I’m not interested.”noveldrama
“Wait…”
“I have other matters to take care of, so I’ll be going now.” Hadley smiled, cutting him off before he could say more. She turned and walked into the dressing room without looking back.
Alec let out a long sigh. “What a pity!”
After leaving the TV station, Hadley made her way back to her apartment on Millland Road.
Melba opened the door and greeted her. “Joy had a great time playing with Tyler this afternoon. She got tired after her bath and went straight to sleep. She’s been in good spirits lately and eating well, though she’s still picky with vegetables.”
“Thank you, Melba,” Hadley said, grateful as always. “I’ll stay with her tonight. You go get some rest.” With that, she stepped into Joy’s room.
For the first time in a while, mother and daughter were able to lie down together. Hadley turned onto her side and watched her sleeping child. The little one’s soft breathing filled the room. Her gaze shifted to her belly, and she thought about the baby growing inside her.
They were both her treasures.
With that thought warming her heart, Hadley closed her eyes and drifted into a peaceful sleep.
“Mom! Mom!”
Hadley’s eyelids felt heavy, but morning had already arrived. Joy was beside her, full of energy and tugging at the covers. “Mommy, sleepyhead! Time to get up!”

“Good morning, Joy.” Hadley forced her eyes open. It was already close to ten. She realized she’d slept nearly twelve hours straight.
Even so, she still felt drained. Her limbs were sluggish, and her body felt heavier. Was it the pregnancy?
When she’d been expecting Joy, it hadn’t felt like this. But pregnancies could be unpredictable. No two were the same, not even for the same mother.
“Mommy, get up!” Joy tugged at her mom with her little hands. “Melba said sleeping on an empty stomach is bad!”
With a smile, Hadley sat up and planted a kiss on Joy’s cheek. “Alright, I’m getting up now.”
With that, she headed into the bathroom to freshen up.
She stayed by her daughter’s side until the afternoon. Once Joy had drifted off for her nap, Hadley left for Redmarsh. She was preparing to leave Srixby soon. And if there was anyone she couldn’t stop thinking about, it was Elissa.
“Hadley!” Elissa rushed over and pressed a phone into Hadley’s hand the moment she stepped through the door.
Hadley blinked. “What’s going on?”
“Can you check how much savings I’ve got left?”
“Why?” Hadley asked, confused.
Elissa pointed toward the housekeeper tidying up nearby. “I asked about her fees, but she said Mr. Flynn already paid for the next three months. I want to transfer the money to him.”
