Comeback Of The Adored Heiress

Chapter 1409

Chapter 1409:

He looked at Lilyana. “Lilyana, you and Calan should head home first.”

“Okay,” they both replied.

Before leaving, Collier shot Calan an encouraging look, subtle yet unmistakable. Calan, watching him walk away, turned to Lilyana.

“It’s still early. Do you want to take a walk?” he asked.

“Sure,” Lilyana replied.

As they strolled, Lilyana sensed that Calan had something on his mind. She could guess—it was probably about him and Susie. But time passed, and Calan remained silent. The longer he hesitated, the more uneasy Lilyana felt. She lowered her gaze, quietly continuing forward.

Then, without warning, Calan came to a stop. Lilyana, unaware, kept walking.

From behind, Calan watched her, his heart pounding. Then, mustering his resolve, he called out, “Lilyana.”

She halted in her tracks and turned, only to realize that a few meters now separated them. Cars streamed past in an unbroken flow, their headlights flashing between them. Yet, neither of them took a step, a small space lingering between them.

“What?” she asked.

Calan exhaled slowly. “I have something I need to tell you.”

But before he could continue, Lilyana pursed her lips and spoke first. “I understand. Don’t worry—I’ll keep my distance from you from now on, so Susie won’t misunderstand.”

She had been thinking about this for a long time. Calan had accepted Susie’s confession. That meant he saw her as his girlfriend now. As his friend, Lilyana knew it was only right to step back and give them space. She wouldn’t be the reason for Susie’s unhappiness.

Calan, however, stared at her in confusion. “What do you mean, keep your distance? So Susie won’t misunderstand? Lilyana, are you misunderstanding something?”

Lilyana’s heart sank, but she kept her expression neutral. “Aren’t you about to tell me that you and Susie are together now?”

Calan needed a few seconds to process her words. And when he finally did, realization hit him like a bolt of lightning. So this was what Collier meant when he said she’d never figure it out on her own…

A faint sigh left his lips as he took a step toward her, his sharp yet gentle features showing a trace of frustration.

“Lilyana… you’ve got it all wrong.” He met her gaze, steady and unwavering. “Susie did confess to me this noon—but I turned her down. I told her that I already have someone else in my heart.”noveldrama

With those words, he closed the distance between them, standing before her, his entire focus on her.

“Lilyana, the person I like is you.” Calan continued, his tone earnest. “Back then, when we went to school together, ate together, spent time as friends… I never said anything because I was afraid that if I did, I’d lose even that. But now, we’re about to step into the next chapter of our lives. I don’t want to stay silent anymore. I want to take this chance—and I hope you’ll take a chance on me too. Let me be the one to stand by your side—not just through the past few years, but through every year after that.”

Calan wasn’t usually one to say much, but right now, as he stood before Lilyana, it felt like there was still so much more he wanted to tell her.
