Chapter 1696
The G District in Southeast Asia had popped up as a force to be reckoned with in the last few years, quickly putting a squeeze on many smaller groups. If it hadn't been for Fiona and Jasmine teaming up, getting out of there would have been a whole lot tougher.
What was even more puzzling was that they couldn't trace where this powerful group had come from. The fact that such a massive network could be built so quietly and still have no trace was suspicious, to say the least.
Fiona seemed to catch onto something right away and whipped out her phone to call Jasmine. "Look into the main branch of the Woods family over the last five years. I need the scoop on every single person. This is urgent; get it to me in half an hour."
Jasmine wasted no time and dove straight into the investigation.
Yen was puzzled by all this. She didn't really get what was going on with the Woods family, but was it really necessary to be so on edge about your own kin? Or was Jackson that big of a threat?
She looked over at Fiona, but kept her questions to herself. Fiona had her reasons, and Yen trusted her judgment.
"Fiona, I've got some grub ready. How about we eat together?" Yen suggested.
Fiona nodded, then shot another message to Jasmine, telling her to rally their Southeast Asian allies. She planned to hit F District by nightfall, but how to get Jackson out would depend on the intel Jasmine dug up.
Over a not-so-appetizing meal, Fiona found herself zoning out, her gaze landing on Jasmine. Unable to hold back, she asked, "Haven't you ever thought of expanding your turf all these years?"
Jasmine let out a wry laugh, peeling a shrimp and dropping it into Yen's bowl. "You think I should try to take over G District on my own? I'm not that ambitious. I'm good with managing my own little corner."
My own little corner, huh?
Fiona noticed how Jasmine's eyes lingered on Xen, and it clicked. "So, you two have something new going on and didn't think to tell me? Keeping it all under wraps-what, scared I'll swoop in?" Fiona joked, fishing out two small boxes from her pocket and setting them in front of them. "Consider these my little gift for your budding romance."
"See? If we'd told you, you'd have gone through all this hassle. Now you're
making romantic gift boxes. What else will you come up with in the future?" Yen
teased, her cheeks slightly pink but her bold nature intact.
"Absolutely," Fiona agreed with a nod.noveldrama
The two had been close to Fiona since they were kids, people she could trust without question. Alongside Jasmine, they made up tight-knit crew. Unlike Jasmine and Fiona, who went way back, Yen and Jasmine had met after Fiona and Jasmine landed in Southeast Asia. Together, the four were as close as family, bonded by thick and thin.
Before long, Jasmine had the dirt on the Woods family right in Fiona's inbox. Fiona had to admit, Jasmine was getting quicker at this, and she loved the speed.
Fiona pulled out her laptop and dug
into the info. It showed that the Woods family had been frequent flyers to Southeast Asia, keeping closeConnections. On the surface, nothing seemed off, which only confirmed that the real operations were happening in the shadows.
She dialed Jasmine back; waiting until evening to head to F District wasn't an
option. The situation was too urgent to delay.
What do you think?
