Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Selena barely managed to swallow her sip of coffee without choking. Holt noticed and gave her an apologetic look, but she was too anxious to dwell on it. She placed her tablet in front of Selena and got straight to the point.

"Several media outlets have just dropped a bombshell about the Vice President. Besides the usual corruption and embezzlement, he's been implicated in a death. Families are already outside his mansion, demanding answers."

This scandal broke just as the Vice President started pulling ahead of Abraham in the polls, effectively torpedoing his candidacy. While Abraham wasn't great, the Vice President's offenses were far worse, making Abraham the lesser of two evils.

It was absurd but all too familiar; everyone was just picking the least dirty player. The common folks could only watch, powerless.

Holt had cursed Abraham a hundred times in the last few minutes, adding, "And now, since Mr. Everett is the Vice President's biggest supporter, he's caught up in all this too. Abraham's team is pushing to quickly pin the blame on Mr. Everett.”

"If things go down like this, Mr. Everett is definitely going down too. Miss, what are we going to do?"

She steadied herself and walked over, "Ms. Selena, if Abraham wins, we're all done for. You've got to come up with something!"

Having spent years by Abraham's side, she knew him too well. Once Abraham got the upper hand, he was ruthless, tearing everything apart until there was nothing left.

Her face was pale with regret for betraying Abraham at Selena's urging.

"Take a seat, don't panic."

Selena motioned for Holt to help Mallie into a chair. She furrowed her brow, deep in thought, and then asked, "How much do you know about Breanne and Everett?"

Mallie looked confused. "Why are you worried about Mr. Everett's affairs now? This isn't the time for jealousy!"

Holt cut in "The lady asked you a

question. Just answer her. She's got her reasons, and we're all in this together. If this ship goes down, it's bad news for you too."

Mallie took a deep breath, trying to remember the details. Breanne had been her suggestion to Abraham, but after he got in touch with her, they left Mallie out of it. What she did know was that Breanne quickly and successfully won over Everett. After just one meeting, he was showering her with gifts-houses, cars, the works. He visited her often

and spoiled her rotten.

Selena listened, staying quiet as her dark eyes flickered with thought. Everett had

once assured her she was the only woman for him, and she believed him.

If Everett was looking to play around, he wouldn't have waited until now. Many had tried and failed to win him over. It seemed unlikely that Breanne, just because she looked a bit like Selena, would completely captivate him.

Plus, the way he had been with her that night didn't suggest he was getting his needs met elsewhere.

Suddenly, Selena had an idea and called out, "Ava, can you come here for a sec?"

Ava rushed in from the kitchen, "Yes, ma'am, what is it?"

Selena said, “Last time Breanne was here, she left a stack of risqué photos, didn't she? You kept them, right? Could you bring them out for me?"

Ava hesitated, "... Yeah, I did keep those awkward things. I'll grab them for you now."
