Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 911

Selena knew Ava inside and out. Even though those photos were gross, Ava

would hang on to them. It was her way of preparing for the next time Everett might try to push her around.

A few minutes later, Ava plunked the stack of photos down in front of Selena. Even with a second look, Selena found them just as revolting and eyesore- inducing, but she picked them up and gave them a good look anyway.noveldrama

Holt, trying to keep his own disgust in check, took a few peeks and suddenly spotted something interesting. "Wow... is Mr. Everett really that adventurous? Every single one is like a different role-play scenario."

Selena's lips curved into a sudden smile. The other three women in the room couldn't help but glance at her. Ava, more worried than the others, asked, "Ma'am, have you lost it? How can you smile at a time like this?"

Selena didn't reply. She just gathered the photos. "Don't sweat it. Everett will sort out his own mess. Everyone should just get some rest."

The three of them were left looking completely puzzled. Selena got up and headed upstairs. It had been a long day, and now that the initial shock had worn off, all she wanted was a warm bath and a good night's sleep. As for the drama the guys were wrapped up in, she didn't see the point in getting tangled up in it.

Over the next week, Selena focused on her job and taking care of the kids, feeling calm and content. Her world was peaceful, but outside, things were anything but.

After getting reported, the deputy was hauled in for questioning that very night. Everett was brought in for an early hearing, which stretched on for a whole day and night. He denied everything flat-out.

Just when Abraham was about to

use tougher tactics to get a confession, Austin's investigation results came through. The pricey crates of wine Everett had sent didn't have anything fishy in them. Though expensive, it was the same kind Austin and Josh always enjoyed during their meetings, just a regular exchange with no lines

crossed.

As for Everett's alleged support of the deputy, it was just political networking, spreading funds across all five candidates, including Abraham's team. If they wanted nail Everett for that, Abraham wouldn't be off the hook either.

Regarding Breanne's claims about indecent behavior and shady dealings, Alex brought in a guy who confessed, and he looked a lot like Everett-easy to mix up in the dark, but pretty different once you got a good look in the light.

When Abraham tried to argue that Everett had set up a scapegoat, Alex produced a second

witness Breanne. She backtracked on her previous statements from the press conference, admitting her guy was a fake Everett, and she only accused him because she was scared of Abraham's revenge.

With the truth out, Abraham was left fuming. Austin dismissed it, "Kick Abraham

off the candidate list, stop the investigation, and take him away."

So, the storm that had overtaken the city finally ended with Everett coming out on top. As Everett walked out of the detention center, reporters rushed to get a piece of him, but his bodyguards kept them away.

In the car, Everett leaned back against the leather seat, his handsome face unreadable, the air around him colder than ever. Alex glanced over and shivered despite herself. She had a pretty good idea why.

Mr. Everett wasn't the type to let strong enemies get him down. He was a born leader, thriving under pressure. But this time, the betrayal had come from someone close-Selena. That was the real sting, the hardest pill to swallow.

After a long pause, Alex spoke softly, "Mr. Everett, should we head to Lakeside Mansion for some rest, or... to Moon Bay?"
